Medusa . A New Song [12 May 2004|01:04am]
I would have posted earlier but I havent been by a computer. Last saturday I got to play bass for Medusa! It was sweet! I found out the day of that I would be playing with her so I had to improvise all the basslines. She complimented me after the show which totally made my day.

In other news Connect the Dots have just finished "A Knife". Get it off this website: http://www.qtopiashows.com/connectthedots.html For a limited time only folks.

Corporate Crime [27 Apr 2004|03:47am]
My father has been subpoenaed to testify in a trial against the FedEx company, the company he works for. RPS, which was bought out by FedEx (thus making FedEx indictable), hired their drivers as employees. These employees (of which my father was one) were required to pay for all truck overhead (repair, maintenence, etc.), which is what private contractors do. The deliberation is over whether the drivers were actually private contractors hired as employees, or if RPS was correct in dubbing the workers as employees. If FedEx is indicted, they will be required to pay back every single contractor (hired under RPS) for all expenses they were required to pay on their trucks. My father was estimating that he'd be getting back over $30,000 at least. Multiply this by the hundreds possibly into the thousands of people hired at RPS and we are talking millions of dollars. He has been working for the RPS/FEDEX company for over 17 years, which is one of the reasons why he was selected.

I am proud of him, and we should all wish him and the prosecution luck. To often the blue collar, everyday worker gets fucked by corporations. Hopefully this will be one of those times that gives a little more power back to the people.

Dear Journal, [25 Mar 2004|08:23pm]
I don't know how many times I can say that I've went to a show and still interest you. I give and give and you never say or do anything. Fuck you Journal.

I'm getting into circuit bending as of late so if anyone has any devices (toy keyboards, etc. )that they don't want I might buy them off you. Also, I'm trying to build a synthesizer from scratch, so if anyone has any knowledge in that arena hit me up and I'll be your new best friend, unlike this apathetic journal.

Hi Kids [07 Jul 2003|05:57pm]
Caught the Farce of July on Friday. Just in time for 2mex w/ a special appearance by Busdriver, which was fuckin' cool. Afterward I went to the park w/ Julia y T-kay. Then I got drunk with Oscar, Jenn and Sarah at a house that T-kay is house sitting for. Pretty chill.

Saturday I chilled w/ [info]laudanumrmalade, [info]hiroaphasia and Susie.

Sunday was my Mom's birthday so I spent the day with her. Susie was over too, she always make things a blast. Caught the Mos Def show at HoB (yuck)w/ T-kay. Pharoahe Monch warmed the crowd nicely. So check it out, two songs into it Talib Kweli hit the stage! They did a whole bunch of stuff off of Black Star and I was in fucking heaven. That is one of my favorite rap albums ever and it was just too good. That is going on my end of year best shows list for sure.

I am not having it [02 Jul 2003|02:58am]
So last weekend, what the fuck did I do? Ok lets organize this shit:

Friday - Ariel came over and we rehearsed some songs. This project is actually looking quite promising.

Saturday - T-kay and Sarah threw a party. Pretty fucking fun, I ran in to a tree, tried to take home a beat up organ, danced a bit and talked to a bunch of KSPC heads.

Sunday - Band practice. Afterward I lazied about with T-Kay.

Ok, so I am starting to book for Qtopia in Hollywood on Thursdays. If you are an artist or in a band or know someone who is, get in touch with me. This is a great opportunity.

Ok, now get off the fucking internet and do something.

My work place is haunted [25 Jun 2003|08:41pm]
doors closing by themselves, large objects being knocked over, footsteps when no one is in the building but me! I don't really even believe in ghosts but damn i don't know what the hell else it could be. maybe the drugs have caught up with me. that still dosen't explain things being knocked over. so weird. I'm all by myself and its a little nerve wracking. oh well.

tonight is the ugly duckling record release party. whos going?

Memory, the lack of [24 Jun 2003|04:30pm]
It has been demonstrated on more than one occasion that my short-term memory is less then desirable. Because of this, I am going to begin using this journal to document events in my life that I consider worthy of remembering. I should take pictures too but that would require a camera which would require money of which I have none.

Yesterday, the 23, I went to the Orchestra Baobab concert at the HoB. The security at the HoB is disconcertingly tight. The crowd was made of lots of tiny KCRW yuppie types. yuck! Unsurprisingly, the complimentary lattes had all ran out. However, the Orchestra was in fine form displaying incredible musicianship and emotion. They played a satisfying 2 hour set. T-kay even got to hear her favorite song. After the show we drove Mulhulland and hooked up the green grapes, yum!

Tommorrow is the Mae Shi at the alterknit I think. Anyone going?

My Weekend [23 Jun 2003|02:35pm]
I had a great weekend as usual. Friday I hung out with Susie, T-kay [info]glitterwahchee, Oscar and Jenn. [info]jobsaftey stopped by for part of the night and we listened to tunes, drank wine and went for a really long walk into nowhere.

Saturday morning T-kay, Oscar, Susie and myself went to the Xol Festival? in los angeles (Macarthur Park). We caught some of Burning Star set and Medusa. It was a fun time with good vibes and good food. After the festival we caught up with some more KSPC heads at the Knitting Factory for !!! and Outhud. Outhud warmed the constituency nicely for the dance frenzy that was !!!. By the time they got to their indie hit "Intensify" it was 200 degrees in the venue. People were dancing like they had been bit by a spider. Needless to say it was a great fucking show. Oscar and Jenn needed to head back afterwards so we dropped them off. The rest of the evening was spent drinking red wine, eating grapes, singing nirvana tunes (only the first verses). A nice way to cap off a beautiful day.

The rest of the weekend was quite mellow and productive. Ok thats it. bye for now.

Excitement [17 Jun 2003|06:03pm]
Arg my last post totally disappeared. whatever.

I just got a practice space over at q-topia. it is the same space that green jello (the had the hit "3 little pigs")uses. As you can imagine, they don't use it much anymore so we can use it whenever we want pretty much.

I also have an electronic project that I've started. Ariel, [info]laudanumrmalade is singing for that one. I'm totally excited about that. blip blop screech pulse. if anyone has a party coming up and wants live music, holla.
